Meet Jacqueline "Jackie" Pollner, MA, LCMHC

Founder of Middle Path Counseling.

Specialities: Eating Disorders, Anxiety: with special training in children/adolescent/young adult, and Parenting.

Hello! I am so glad you are here. I created Middle Path Counseling from my passion for helping others and wanting to team up with like minded professionals. I hope you find what you are looking for here and can start living the life you were meant to!

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am originally from NY and moved here to NH during my elementary years. I became interested in psychology during my senior year of high school. When I am not in the office you can find me on our small farm working with our animals, like the baby chick in my hands above, or with my hands in the dirt in my flower and vegetable gardens. Fun fact: our farm was featured on NH Chronicle!

Why did you become a therapist?

I have always had a passion for helping others and an interest in hearing others stories. It is such a privilege to sit with each and every client over the years and hear their stories, perspectives on life and the goals they have for themselves. When I entered the profession I quickly realized that I was a worrier as a kid (and still can be). This made me even more passionate about learning the skills to not only help my clients someday, but to help myself. I love to support my clients in learning about their brains and the skills that will help them manage their emotional life.

What do you consider your specialties?

I have a special interest in treating clients that struggle with anxiety, eating disorders, and parenting. I have spent the majority of my career treating eating disorders and it is one of my passions. I also enjoy meeting with families and kids who are worriers, just like I was as a kid. I enjoy teaching clients how to not let worry be the boss of them. Lastly, parenting is one of my newer specialties. Once I became a mother myself I had a new level of appreciation for all the parents I had seen over the years in my office. This inspired me to become trained in more parenting based therapy approaches and bring a higher level of skills to the parents I see. I enjoy teaching other parents ways to manage the ups and downs of parenting.

What is sitting in your office with you like? Tell us a bit about your approach to therapy.

My approach to therapy is warm and supportive, while also being directive in teaching clients the skills needed to support them in achieving their goals. I am authentic, love to use laughter and silliness where I can. I approach each client with a nonjudgemental stance and strive to validate their experiences and challenge them to do better and try harder when needed. I am all about the warm fuzzy and listening when we need it and then shifting to provide the tough words of encouragement and accountability.

What is your favorite part about being a therapist?

Hmmmm... my favorite part about being a therapist is the fun I get to have with my clients as I help them learn new skills and step into feeling more fulfilled with life. I enjoy the hard times too, sitting with someone during their biggest struggles and watching them work their way through it. This work is so rewarding and I truly enjoy every client that I get to meet along the way!
